I Believe...Life presents many challenges to our ability to stay balanced and centered in our day-to-day existence. During difficult times, additional support can offer the breathing room we need to help us make sense of our circumstances. The process of therapy and the journey of self-discovery in a supportive environment can help untangle confusing thoughts, feelings, and behavioral patterns that seem to be keeping you stuck. Whether you have feelings of depression, anxiety, relationship struggles, or a challenging life transition, I want to support you every step of the way.
Maya Angelou once said, “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.” During our sessions I will meet you with compassion, kindness and make it a point to provide you with a safe place to process, ask questions and grow. I make space for each of my clients to recognize their unique individuality and resilience.
"Joyful is the person who finds wisdom, the one who gains understanding." Proverbs 3:13
My Approach
In working with individuals, families, and groups, my therapy style is relaxed and collaborative, and my goal is to help you to feel empowered in the face of your distress. I generally believe that everyone can benefit from therapy at some point in their lives, and I see this work as not only a way to get through a crisis or reduce a symptom, but as a path toward developing a better toolkit for managing obstacles in the future. I use research-informed treatment strategies, and work from a perspective that integrates cognitive-behavioral, interpersonal, and mindfulness approaches.
My goals for therapy include:
• helping you to experience less stress, pressure, and overwhelm in your daily life
• collaboratively figuring out what is happening under the surface, and exploring the ways in which that might be adding to your distress or preventing you from feeling better
• building up your resilience and increasing your effectiveness at managing internal or external stressors so that you can be fully engaged and effective in all areas of your life
• using research-informed techniques and a customized treatment plan to help you feel better as quickly as possible.
Clients often come to me looking for help with:
• Anxiety
• Sadness
• Depression
• Loneliness
• Life Transitions
• Lack of Motivation
• Excessive or chronic worry
• Difficulty concentrating
• Relationship concerns, conflict, and communication
